Navigating the shifting media landscape
Media Consulting
Navigating the challenges of today's B2B media landscape is challenging whether you are a small organization, or one of the world's largest. Media has undergone a massive transformation over the past 15 years driven by shifting content consumption models, advertiser demands, and technology innovations. Through market shift after market shift, media organizations have struggled to successfully navigate the evolving landscape. Generally, they are doing so without outside counsel.
With nearly 40 years of experience in the media business, Bob Bragdon has held or managed every possible role across the B2B and B2C media spectrum from editorial to sales, circulation to branding, technology to UX/UI, across print, web, custom services, and events. Most recently, as founding Publisher of the CSO media brand at Foundry (formerly IDG), Bragdon grew CSO to become the leading information resource for security, risk, and privacy leaders around the globe. During his 21 years with CSO he led the global operations for the full CSO product line, which helped to define the role of the Chief Security Officer and Chief Information Security Officer as the brand expanded to numerous international markets, most notably Canada, the UK, Germany, India, Australia, ASEAN, Brazil, Japan, and Spain. Through the growth of CSO magazine, it’s companion website CSOonline.com, and through CSO events and custom content he led a highly profitable and diversified organization that could consistently deliver >80% GM. As media evolved away from print, Bragdon led the pivot to online with powerful content and an audience focus that grew to deliver the highest lifetime value of any content among Foundry brands (CIO, Computerworld, NetworkWorld, InfoWorld). As the 2020 pandemic fundamentally changed the way buyers and sellers interact, Bragdon helped to pivot the business and develop new models for buyers and sellers to connect. With an eye to global expansion, he helped drive the growth of Foundry brands into new international markets with novel, native-language media offerings.
Prior to leading the CSO brand, Bragdon served in various sales and event marketing roles with the COMDEX and PCWeek brands at Ziff-Davis/Softbank/Key3Media. He also held marketing and brand launch roles for Digital Review, Digital News & Review, Client/Server Today, EDN, and EBB at Cahners Publishing (Reed). Prior to that he held sales, marketing, and business management roles at the noted marine science journal Oceanus (WHOI), and the award-winning regional lifestyle magazine Cape Cod Life.
Beyond the expertise noted above, Bragdon has addressed industry groups on "The Decline of the Trusted Media Brand", "Failure and Evolution in B2B Media", and "Why Quality Content Still Matters".
